    My Approach to Helping

The philosophy which serves as the foundation of my practice is simple: Help my clients figure out what is working, what is not working, how to do more of what works, and less of what does not. While that is a simple explanation of my therapeutic style, it is also an evidenced based approach which has been shown to provide the best results for couples and families who are experiencing a crisis in their relationships. This approach is Solution Focused, and teaches families how to communicate effectively during situations which create emotional escalation, so that resolution of problems can be achieved. There are very few exceptions to which this approach cannot be applied. It is successful for couples relational issues, parent/child relational issues, sibling relational issues, and employer/employee relational issues.

    More Info About My Practice

My fee schedule is as follows: $125 per 60 minute session. I do not currently accept insurance. However, several of my clients have successfully filed for reimbursement, and I am willing to provide all diagnositc and procedural codes required by your insurance provider for you to file your claim.

I am available Mon – Fri, 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and occasionally on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for special circumstances. I provide a “homestyle,” non-clinical setting, which is very effective in reducing resistance and anxiety in teens and children who may be reluctant to come to therapy. My clients also take comfort in the unique environment, and the high degree of confidentiality experienced as a result of not having to enter my practice by taking a crowded elevator and walking into an office with signage indicating “THERAPIST.”

Specific Issue(s) I’m Skilled at Helping With

I have a special affinity for helping adolescents with difficult developmental and life cycle issues, including adjustment to changing family dynamics, peer pressure, bullying, self acceptance, and navigation of the sometimes treacherous teen years.

    My Therapy Focus

The focus of my clinical serivces includes, but is not limited to:
    – Marital and Divorce Counseling
    – Divorce Adjustment for Adolescents and Children
    – Blended / Step Family Integration
    – Pre-Marital Counseling for Second Marriages
    – Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
    – Co-Parenting After Divorce

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

For those “on the fence,” not quite sure about therapy seekers, I offer this advice: if you or someone you know has had a not so successful experience from therapy, keep several important factors in mind. First, there are many different modalities and specializations of clinical training. Second, find the right “fit” is critical to the success of any therapeutic relationship. Seek out recommendations from friends and family, as opposed to just looking through your insurance provider list. As a clinician, I too, look for fit when I begin to see new clients. If I do not feel I am the best therapist to help with their presentation, I refer them to someone who is a better fit. In addition, I’ve found those clients who are ambivalent about starting therapy, enjoy the Short-term,Solution Focused model I follow. They are wanting results, without having to relive their childhood experiences before a therapeutic impact can be felt.
