Personal Statement

My desire as a therapist is to put myself in your shoes. I want to hear about how you are experiencing life and what the challenges are that you are facing. From there, my goal is for you to feel safe, to feel understood, and ultimately to feel like you can make progress; after all, getting and feeling better is what really counts.

How will you know things are better? Well, you will notice that you are happier, calmer, and more at ease. By achieving insight into your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences, you can begin to make the right choices for yourself and move toward a healthier emotional state. You handle life’s ups and downs more easily and with more control over your emotions. You see the difficult times as part of life and are less likely to become overwhelmed by them. You are more forgiving and accepting. You are more connected to yourself and your own emotions. You look forward to living your life and not just moving through it. You are beginning to see things differently. Your perspective on life and everything around you is changing, and you see solutions where you may have seen problems in the past. You are making different choices and looking at your own needs more often. You recognize that you have choices you didn’t used to think you had. You smile or laugh more; your whole demeanor is more positive and future-focused. You are getting along better with the other people in your life—from friends and family to your coworkers. You have more hope for a brighter future. You feel important, competent, and significant in the lives of those around you. You know you have value to them and to yourself.

If these are some of the things you desire for yourself and they seem like good goals for you, then consider therapy. I am happy to talk over the phone and answer any of your questions. Making that call can be frightening and I understand that; but do this for yourself. You are worth it.
