    My Approach to Helping

I have learned that happiness and serenity are predicated on self acceptance, conscious presence, balance, and love, and that, given the right environment and relationships, most people are capable of effective problem solving and meaningful growth. Using an eclectic approach, and a stance of compassionate and validating presence, I help clients understand their current problems in the context of past and present key relationships, developing awareness of their emotional triggers, and their adaptive and maladaptive stances and coping strategies. I encourage clients to explore healthier narratives and behaviors, allowing for more effective “voice” and sense of agency. I also, when I feel it’s appropriate, use humor as a normalizing and neutralizing tool. I strongly believe that therapy, although predicated on emotional pain, can be an amazing, wild journey of discovery and growth.

    More Info About My Practice

I work with a limited number of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield clients, as an “in network provider.” Clients with most other insurance plans which aren’t HMO’s can bill for my services.

Specific Issue(s) I’m Skilled at Helping With

I’m a strong, seasoned, interactive therapist, and am particularly skilled at working with couples who are entrenched in emotional and behavioral standoffs, whether it’s related to an affair, co-parenting, division of labor, or together managing closeness. I teach people in an individual or couples format how to take turns, how to communicate and listen, and how to move away from standoffs toward win-win solutions to problems.
