    My Approach to Helping

My first goal as a therapist is to provide a safe & supportive environment for my clients, many of whom express feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, or “stuckness” about where they are in their lives, often in response to relationship, family andor work and career issues. I work collaboratively with them, helping them to explore thoughts, feelings and relationship patterns; to discover their strengths and resources; and to develop strategies for managing anxieties and building resiliency while they change, grow and work towards renewed connection and more meaningful relationships. I use an integrative approach, selecting what will be most helpful for each client, drawing upon my training in family systems therapy together with cognitive and mindfulness approaches. I see my role as therapist to be that of supporter, teacher, coach, listening ear, sounding board, and mirror. I am also multicultural in my approach. This means that I address and value the larger family and social contexts and the different world views, religiousspiritual beliefs, values that my clients bring to the table. I welcome clients of diverse racial, ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and cultural backgrounds.
