Personal Statement
Words alone often cannot express the emotions experienced for many people who are struggling to overcome trauma or challenges in life. I specialize in providing creative art therapy services to children, adolescents and adults and am dedicated to helping my clients discover their own unique path to happiness and wellbeing. By combining traditional psychotherapeutic theories and techniques with the creative process, art therapy can provide opportunities to explore behaviors, emotions, experiences and our relationships with each other. In working with trauma-affected children, I incorporate play, sensitivity and caring throughout the therapeutic process.
Young children can often find it difficult to communicate and express themselves verbally when faced with anxiety. Because children are naturally creative, they may be more inclined to share their needs and experiences with adults through the non-threatening method of art and play therapy.
I have clinical experience working with individuals struggling with symptoms that include self-injury, eating disorders, substance abuse and depression. One of my primary strengths includes being able to approach each individual with openness, empathy and respect.
