Personal Statement

Molly Carmel, LCSW the Founder and Director of The Beacon Programs in New York City, an outpatient program helping people with compulsive overeating, food addiction and eating disorders find permanent solutions.

Before starting The Beacon Program, Molly created Greenlight, a successful outpatient weight management program at the renowned Wilkins Center in Greenwich, CT and at Webster Wellness Professionals in St. Louis, MO. Molly was also the Founding and Senior Clinical Director of Academy of the Sierras, the nation’s first therapeutic boarding school specifically addressing adolescent obesity and their sister program Wellspring Camps.

Molly’s passion lies in guiding people to sustainable, long term weight management. Molly sees obesity as much more of a behavioral issue than a nutritional one. Molly believes the skills and theories of Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and CBT are the keystones to helping people to live their very best lives. Molly has extensive advanced training in DBT — she in intensively trained by Behavioral Tech and has significant training in DBT for Substance Users and Eating Disorders.
