My Approach to Helping
Let’s face it, life is hard enough with just the normal everyday concerns. There gets a point where a family member’s problems no longer seem manageable. Whether it’s a kid not acting like their old self, feelings of sadness, anger or worries start to outweigh the positive things, or something badlife changing happened, I can help. The end result of therapy is to work through and conquer these problems that can be too much to handle alone and ultimately have a better quality of life. Your child or family doesn’t need to endure these problems, contact me now for further info or to schedule an appointment.

Metis Counseling currently is seeing clients via telehealth (video conferencing) due to COVID 19. It is the very first set of black office buildings on the right, the 2nd building (middle building). The address is 7505 NW Tiffany Springs Parkway Suite 510 KCMO 64153 (so the 5th floor). I am in-network with most insurance plans as well as EAP (employee assistance) plans. I also accept self pay (not involving any 3rd parties) and healthcare reimbursement cards. I would be happy to answer any questions via email or phone.
I am a Certified Trauma Specialist through the National Center Of Trauma and Loss. I supervise other counselors and play therapists (have my RPT-S, or Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor). I am a National Certified Counselor.
My Role as a Therapist
My role as a therapist is to assist in figuring out what all is contributing to the presenting problem,if its unknown. At the start of therapy, we make a plan of how to work through, work towards or get better at what it is you want to get out of therapy. For kids, this can be a lot of tailored activities using art supplies and toys to address and work symptoms of things such as anxiety, anger, sadness and behavioral concerns. This also includes working through feelings, improving relationships, learning coping, or stressanger management skills. Since all people are different with their own unique experiences, you can see why it needs to be specific to a person’s personality, temperament, and value system.
