    My Approach to Helping

Relationships are vital to our health and well-being. They support us and challenge us to grow both within ourselves and in our connections with others. I support the development of healthy relationship skills by focusing on emotional intelligence, effective communication, sexuality issues, personal empowerment and development. Rekindling the trust, emotional connection, and playful spark necessary for a healthy relationship is a process of establishing mutual goals and coming to an understanding of your partner’s emotional style. It’s important to learn how to communicate based on each other’s emotional styles and preferences, while at the same time being comfortable with dropping your defenses. At the Embodied Relationships Counseling Center, I provide a safe space for you to develop a foundation that will ignite passion, strengthen trust, and sustain your love through difficult times.

I weave together genuine communication, effective relationship skills, and self-awareness to guide you and your partner towards the kind of intimacy and connection that is inspiring and sustainable.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Many of us need support in learning how to practice healthy relationship skills, such as communicating complicated emotions and enjoying our sexuality. While the adults in our lives did the best they could with what they have, it was often not enough to prepare each of us for real life. Psychotherapy will help you understand your origin story and the relationship styles you learned. Then, we can lay the foundations to bring you to a deeper satisfaction with your important relationships.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

We all experience overwhelming emotions – our bodies are wired for pain just as we are wired for pleasure. Allowing ourselves to feel difficult emotions creates space for all the wonderful emotions that we long to feel. In session, we guide you and your partner to access your personal resources, to stay present with yourselves and each other, and to effectively work through your most challenging moments. As our work together progresses, you will find that you have a higher tolerance for feeling the hard stuff and a higher capacity to experience joy and pleasure.
