    My Approach to Helping

My approach is to listen to what is going on at that moment in a person’s life, and to hopefully hear all of what is pertinent and important to that person. I want to understand what his or her goals are and to work together with that person to feel more fulfilled and present. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Low Energy Neurofeedback, Biofeedback,

EMDR, and Trauma Studies are some of the approaches I have been specifically trained in.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

My own struggles have definitely made me a better therapist. What is the old saying? “Walk a mile in my shoes”.
In 2001, my daughter was a victim of violent crime, which required many hospitalizations and surgeries as well as dealing with the initial and ongoing trauma that continues after such an event. This makes one look at the past, the present, and the future through very different eyes. Views of life change, importance of issues change, and life directions alter after such an event. I view the response to trauma as an opportunity to view life more fully.
