    My Approach to Helping

Therapy is a safe space where you can examine your worries, fears, and traumas with the support of a trained professional. Through the journey of therapy, you can achieve a better understanding of yourself, the function of your worries, and what keeps your worries and traumatic memories alive in your heart, head, and body. Therapy is a space where you can increase your capacity to manage your worries and heal your traumatic injuries.

Specific Issue(s) I’m Skilled at Helping With

I feel most skilled in helping people to resolve anxiety, emotional trauma, sexual trauma, physical trauma, racial trauma, depression, and grief/loss. While I have worked with men, women, and children from all different walks of life, I have found that I am particularly adept at working with women, trans and non-binary people, people of color, and those within the LGBTQ community.

    Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

As a feminist therapist, I believe that the your relationship with me is the most important factor in the overall success of therapy. My hope is that through time, we can build a trusting connection where you have a sense of safety, as well as feel my respect for you. I also trust that you will know in your gut what makes for the most supportive therapeutic relationship for you, and I hope that you trust that instinct.

I believe that therapy is intended to be a partnership, which means that I take an active role in our work. In support of a meaningful relationship, I believe it is important that also acknowledge my personhood and how it enters my work as a therapist. So I am open about how my identity as a woman, as a person of color, as a mother, as a wife, as cisgendered, and as straight may enter the room and inform my view of the world and of therapy.
