Personal Statement

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I have worked in a multitude of different human service settings including, residential treatment facilities, therapeutic foster care, community based treatment, substance treatment both outpatient and detox, crisis, and mental health. I have worked with a wide range of populations with a significant variation of emotional and behavioral problems.

I enjoy helping adolescents and adults who want to feel satisfied in their lives. I support them in exploring the ability to be more mindful of thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and developing different skills to be able to manage distressing emotions and situations as well regulating our everyday emotions and addictions.

I have specialized training and experience working with people with addictions, depression, anxiety, anger management, borderline personality disorder and bi-polar disorders. My main approach to treatment utilizes techniques from multiple treatment modalities, but a core focus is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In DBT, there are 4 main skill sets that are developed, and a foundation set of skills includes mindfulness.
