Personal Statement
Relationships are hard. It doesnt matter if you are married, separated, newlyweds, cohabitating, dating, same-sex, interracial, or unsure what your relationship status is, creating and sustaining a healthy relationship can be challenging. So is deciding to get help. Research shows the average couple doesn’t attend counseling until 6-7 years into relationship trouble. It is an investment in time and money, let alone finding the right therapist. I recognize how scary it can be.
The goal of couples counseling is to help you create and maintain greater love and health within your relationship. Without the right tools, research shows that couples often resort to destructive communication patterns, including criticism, defensiveness, stonewalling, and contempt.
Through evidence based methods I want to support you in developing effective ways to resolve conflict, deepen friendship, increase intimacy, and discover new hope within your relationship. To make your relationship last, you must both become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other’s hopes for the future. Therapy can put you on that road to a loving, long-term relationship based on trust, commitment, and friendship.
