Personal Statement
My first and primary job is to listen, and to try to develop a good understanding of the people I work with so that I can provide a non-judgmental and therapeutic relationship with them. I work carefully with each person to identify goals, and I develop an individualized treatment plan according to their needs. In recognition of the fact that everyone is different, I work to find a way to be the right therapist for each individual.
Everyone wants to find happiness and avoid suffering, to feel like themselves, to love, and to be productive. I strive to help people identify those things in their past and in the present that keep them from those goals, and to remove patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving that get in the way.
I am a trained Psychoanalyst, and for those individuals seeking deep exploration of their psyche I am available to undertake this time honored, effective treatment. I also practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; for those individuals seeking more goal oriented therapies. I have a special interest in working with people in creative professions.
