    My Approach to Helping

You can move through pain, get unstuck, and enjoy being you again!

Therapy can be for short-term symptom relief or it can be a longer, more in-depth process of discovering and resolving the root causes of the symptoms. We will discuss your desires and work to meet your goals, whether short or long-term. I will meet you where you are in the midst of life’s struggles and work with you to renew a sense of hope and healing in your life. I provide a personalized approach tailored to each of my client’s individual needs. Together, we will work through current and past hurts to attain the healing and personal growth you are looking for.

My areas of specialization include trauma, depression, anxiety, griefloss, addiction recovery, and relationship issues. My theoretical orientation is an integrated approach drawing largely from psychoanalytic, existential, attachment, and family systems schools of thought. I primarily work with adults in individual and group therapy.

I have post-graduate psychoanalytic training through the Dallas Psychoanalytic Center. And, I am certified to utilize the “PrepareEnrich” instrument for pre-marital counseling and marriage enrichment.

    More Info About My Practice

Evening and weekend appointments may be available. My office is conveniently located near the intersection of Highway 75 and Campbell Road in Richardson.

Specific Issue(s) I’m Skilled at Helping With

The following have been my areas of specialization: depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, stage of life issues, dual diagnosis, marriage and family counseling, pre-marital counseling, addiction problems, recovery from abusetrauma. I have enjoyed working with people dealing with these issues in my private practice, in counseling agencies, as a counselor at a drugalcohol rehab, and as a bereavement coordinator at a hospice.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I believe the purpose of psychotherapy is often to foster personal growth and healing. With me, therapy will be collaborative and based on the goals and desires of the individual, couple, or family.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love inspiring hope and a sense of purpose in others. It is so enjoyable to see people grasp a more positive view of themselves. I also enjoy working with couples through difficult issues in their relationships to help them rebuild trust, love, and affection.

    My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to join with people on their journey toward growth and healing. Through being supportive while uncovering roots of problems in a person’s life, I work with people to meet their goals and attain a more fulfilling life.

    My Guiding Ethical Principles

A sense of safety is primary. Sometimes that’s harder than it sounds when working through issues of abuse and betrayal. I always work to place the well-being of my clients above all else. I am sensitive to ethnic concerns and spiritual issues.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

I think people need to be able to feel safe with their therapist. There can often be joyful experiences as well as frightening moments in therapy. A therapist and an environment that convey safety, trust, and authenticity are significant elements in the experience of therapy.
