    My Approach to Helping

**I am currently accepting new clients**

Therapy has been likened to unpacking a backpack. We each carry a backpack of our stuff. When we’re unaware of what “our stuff” is, we tend to operate from a place of not owning it, and displacing the weight of it on others. Therapy is a place to process through that stuff, and to learn to own ourselves. Unpacking the backpack involves actively reflecting on what we’re carrying in it, and working through the weighty emotions that carry old messages from our past.

I offer counseling support to individuals and couples seeking short-term support for immediate concerns, or long-term support when more time is required to process through complex experiences.

Regardless of what is calling you to therapy now, I would like to offer you a safe space to do your work.

I have the skills to facilitate your experience, and I have done it for others. For an appointment, please call or email me.

    More Info About My Practice

I believe that care should be accessible and affordable to all those who seek it. My private pay fee is $80 per 50-minute session.

Although I currently run my business as “cash and credit card only,” I am working on getting paneled with many insurance companies. At this time I will gladly provide documentation for those choosing me as an out-of-network provider.

Specific Issue(s) I’m Skilled at Helping With

When I was first starting out as a counselor, I worked for an entire year at a private agency where all the counselors and supervisory staff were women, and all of our clients identified as women. This experience was very transformative for me, and I continue to specialize in feminist psychotherapy. What is that, you might ask?

Feminist psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on the particular challenges and stressors that women face as a result of bias, stereotyping, oppression, discrimination, and other factors that threaten their mental health as a result of living in a society and culture that has established masculinity and male-dominance as the norm.

I am also a veteran with almost a decade of military experience that included war-time deployments and hardship tours, and I have experience sitting with veterans and family members of veterans. The military-affiliated community is a unique community of individuals who’ve experienced sometimes unspeakable hardship yet remain some of the most underserved members of society.

If you identify with either of these groups (or both), I am available to sit with you.

For those individuals who do not have a mental health care plan as part of their health benefits, I offer reduced rates for both individual and couples counseling sessions. For individuals, I offer a reduced rate between $50 and $80 per 50-minute individual counseling session, and between $75 and $100 per 50-minute couples counseling session. Rates are generally determined prior to the first meeting, or during our first session.
