My Approach to Helping
As a clinical psychologist, I can help you with relationship issues, managing stress, minimizing anxiety and depression, and managing important life transitions. Within my profession, there is no valuable “cookie cutter” approach, therefore your unique personality and coping style will have a significant emphasis in my work with you. My primary goal is to always learn and help my clients to do the same. To summarize, I can help you with: 1) Relationship issues 2) Managing stress 3) Minimizing your depression and anxiety 4) Managing important life transitions
Building a fresh outlook on a recent or habitual problem is essential to minimizing or completely eliminating it. As a psychologist, I can help you to do exactly that. For that reason, I am best regarded as your personal consultant, with whom you can freely discuss your individual difficulties and find the best strategies to address them.
More Info About My Practice
I accept most health insurance plans, such as Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Medicare, and MVP. I accept payment for my services in cash, by check, or by credit card.
Specific Issue(s) I’m Skilled at Helping With
I feel that I am particularly adept at helping people who have relationship issues, people who experience various forms of anxiety and stress, and people who are managing important life transition issues. I believe that my training and my life experience (clinical psychology is my second career) have prepared me for this work. I also believe that personal growth should never end. My goal is to keep learning about myself and help my clients do the same.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
In my opinion the main purpose of psychotherapy is to identify the most productive perspective for addressing situational or recurring problems. I often tell my clients that I am probably best viewed as a consultant with whom they can discuss their difficulties.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
Continuing to learn about others and myself is certainly a major reason. Also, the variety of issues that present themselves offers rewarding challenges.
My Role as a Therapist
As I mentioned earlier, I am probably best viewed as a consultant, who helps clients find ways to make their lives richer and more satisfying.
My Therapy Focus
The focus of my therapy work is always my client(s). I believe it is crucial to therapeutic work to build on the client(s) strengths.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
It’s very helpful to me to learn about patterns of behavior that are not productive. It’s also very helpful to me to know what your goals are for engaging in counseling. Examples of recurring difficulties are extremely helpful.
