    My Approach to Helping

Welcome. I believe that therapy is a powerful tool for healing emotional issues that affect body, mind, heart, and spirit. We all experience bumps in the road of life, whether from a relationship, the loss of a loved one, a health issue, a move, or painful memories from childhood that won’t go away. Life is complex and our emotions are impacted. My own journey of personal healing led to my becoming a psychotherapist. It is a labor of love for me. My goal as a therapist is to be a guide, co-create a safe environment for you, and offer you a process to become emotionally unstuck, heal wounds from the past and live life in the present with more energy, passion and joy. I work with couples who are having conflict, men who have experienced childhood trauma, gay men and lesbians, and people who grew up with an alcoholic or an emotionally absent parent (ACOA). I would be happy to speak with you by phone prior to making an appointment.

    More Info About My Practice

I am an in-network provider for Blue CrossBlue Shield and Medicaid (Husky). Other insurances are accepted on an out-of-network basis. Initial consultation fee $190. Individual therapy sessions $150. Couplefamily therapy sessions $165. We also offer services at a sliding fee scale. And currently, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, I am offering sessions online using Doxy.me, a Hippa compliant Teletherapy service. Please contact me if you wish to schedule an appointment.

    How Psychotherapy Can Help

We all need an impartial witness from time to time. When we have feelings such as shame, guilt, anger, grief, and when these emotions are interfering with our ability to live life on our own terms, then having a therapist who is compassionate, impartial and non-judgmental, as well as the skill to help you understand what happened and how to resolve these feelings is needed. It is my belief that this is the work of psychotherapy.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

I believe the most important factor in choosing a therapist is your comfort level with the therapist. If you do not feel comfortable, andor have a sense of emotional safety with a therapist, his or her level of education and credentials will not change that. I often recommend that people interview 2 or 3 therapists before making a decision.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is an evidence based model of psychotherapy. I have trained extensively in IFS therapy for individual therapy, and have completed both the basic and advanced training of IFS therapy for couples.
