    My Approach to Helping

I believe in taking a holistic approach to counseling. Since most issues are interrelated, positive change in one area begins a ripple effect of change in others. My training and 25 years of clinical experience is diverse, addressing issues related to relationship problems, anxiety, depression, addictions, trauma, grief and stress. In addition, I offer two women’s groups and an individualized, 12 week Anger Management Program. Since 1995, I have been an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma. Courses taught include Understanding Addictions, Chemical Dependency, Human Emotions, Stress Management and Advanced Counseling Skills.

    More Info About My Practice

I am a Licensed Marital & Family Therapist, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Master Addiction Counselor and a Certified EMDR Therapist. EMDR therapy is one of the most effective treatments for PTSD and is often used with complicated grief issues. (See the EMDR website for information on EMDR)
My practice utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy. I also offer assertiveness and stress management training in addition to chemical dependency counseling and family interventions.

Specific Issue(s) I’m Skilled at Helping With

I was trained in EMDR following the Oklahoma City bombing, in 1995. EMDR therapy incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapy and has been enormously successful with my clients. As a result, I became certified in EMDR and have been able to help many individuals, over the past 20 years, more effectively cope with and resolve a variety of issues and problems.
