Personal Statement

Dr. Ellen C. Ranney has been with Associated Counselors of West County since June of 1991. Her work in private practice focuses on the areas of personal development, family development and transitions within the family. Dr. Ranney specializes in treatment of complex trauma resulting from childhood abuse and neglect, as well as adult interpersonal and medical trauma.

Treatment may take place in individual, couple or family systems as best determined to meet the needs of clients. Her treatment approach is strongly influenced by Internal Family Systems Theory (IFS), mindfulness practices, somatic integration and interpersonal neurobiology.

Ellen feels that all therapy is developmental in nature, and that emotional functioning is critical to relational and physical health. She encourages clients to explore holistic and complementary options for expanded healing. Her involvement in training other clinicians and her interest in the interpersonal nature of development are driving forces in her efforts to educate and find options for clients’ ongoing growth.
