Personal Statement
I believe therapy is about safety and empowerment. I understand the courage it takes for teens and young adults to confront the unique challenges in this stage of life. My clients know they have a safe space to explore difficult issues. I seek to empower my clients as they discover new coping skills and work toward growth and healing.
Interpersonal relationships play a significant role in the health of a client. Deepening family bonds reinforces social interaction and helps navigate complex relational boundaries. Working collaboratively with families in the therapy process can lead to new bridges of understanding in the home.
Adolescence and emerging adulthood are characterized by profound emotional, cognitive, and physiological growth. Unfortunately, many people feel alone in this journey even though their peers are often feeling the same way. I treat many of the struggles that emerge during this time period: ADHD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, substance abuse, career and social anxiety, perfectionism, impulse management, family relationships, and identity development struggles.
