    My Approach to Helping

I’m glad you’ve found me! I consider this work to be a true privilege. As a client, you can expect that I will take a caring, compassionate interest in your story. I will collaborate with you in to understand and cope with any issues — past, present, or both — that are causing current difficulties. I know that life can be overwhelming and that, at times, we all need someone to help us navigate it without judgment.

While I have a general practice with a broad scope, I specialize in treating survivors of interpersonal trauma such as domestic violence and childhood physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. I have years of experience treating clients suffering from the lasting effects of abuse, and although I know it may seem impossible to heal those wounds, it isn’t. You CAN feel better, and we can work together to make it happen.

My other area of expertise is working with clients who are experiencing infertility andor the use of assisted reproduction technologies to build a family. Infertility is a particularly complicated and difficult experience, and it takes someone well versed in its particular challenges to help clients navigate such a difficult time.

In addition to these specialties, I welcome clients with a range of other concerns, including depression, anxiety, life transitions, stress, low self-esteem, chronic pain, issues of grief or loss, relationship problems, family problems, addictions and more.

Whatever your struggle may be, I am here to help. I will pair my training as a clinician with the compassionate understanding of a human being who “gets it” to help you heal and move forward.

    More Info About My Practice

I encourage you to call me even if you’re on the fence about committing to therapy. I will be happy to talk with you before you schedule an appointment to help you determine whether or not therapy would be helpful for you at this time, and also whether or not I’m the right therapist for you.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love my job! I think being a therapist is one of the most rewarding professions out there. I’m privileged to get to know my clients and share in their struggles as well as their hopes, dreams, achievements, successes, and moments of joy. It is an honor to see clients grow and change through their hard work in therapy and their desire to live differently. I believe that everyone has strengths on which to build, most of which have been there all along. It takes great strength and courage to come to therapy in the first place, and once you commit to opening yourself up to the process and thinking about change, it’s amazing what can happen.

    My Guiding Ethical Principles

As a therapist I firmly believe in a “good fit.” That’s why I encourage clients to call me and get to know me, and to come to a session to see if they think I might be someone they could eventually trust, confide in, and feel confident in helping them achieve their therapy goals. I strive to practice with the utmost consideration of professional ethics. I will never claim to have expertise in an area that is out of my purview, I will always take care to avoid conflicts of interest and dual relationships, and I will ensure that your emotional safety is paramount. I believe there is a beginning, middle, and end to the therapy process and that the goal of therapy is ultimately to end it when the treatment goals have been achieved (however long that might take). I believe that a good therapist cares deeply about each client, and within that framework, encourages the client to take the steps needed to grow and change. My clients have faith in me, and I have faith in them to do the work needed to accomplish their goals.
